"After reading much-hyped reviews in magazines I couldn't wait to read this novel. It fell short of my expectations. Figuring it to be a quick and interesting read, I found it took so long to finish, having to back-track and constantly refer to the lineage page to keep up with the pace. Too heavy on the mellowdrama, washed out scenes, it was not a "feel-good" novel about women."

A short history of women

This review is for the Print format.
"The cover comes alive after you have read the book. Following a family of women over several generations the reader finds a common thread runs through the story. Each chapter is a story in itself. I read this book shortly after the death of my mother and found it to be a comfort book. We all think we are the only ones facing each situation. This book shares all women stories and helps us understand that progress takes time. Each generation must add to the progress of women. Highly recommended. Would also give to young adult women to understand where we started and where we are going."
